REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH & FERTILITY

Wherever you are
in your journey —
we meet you there.

Trying to conceive naturally, preparing for IVF, navigating PCOS or endometriosis, or rebuilding after loss — wherever you are, our approach is the same: find the root, treat the whole person, and build from there.

Dr. Emil is a Fellow of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (FABORM).

The fertility journey is a lot — medically, emotionally, financially. You're probably doing more research than your doctor realizes, and carrying more than most people around you understand.

You don't have to explain yourself here. We've been doing this work for over 10 years. We listen first — then we get to work.

The best time to plant a seed was 20 years ago. The next best time is today.

THE SCIENCE

Acupuncture and fertility.
The research is compelling.

Two decades of peer-reviewed studies show acupuncture measurably improves fertility outcomes — for natural conception and assisted reproduction alike.

42.5%
Clinical pregnancy rate when acupuncture was performed on embryo transfer day — compared to 26.3% in the control group
Paulus et al., Fertility & Sterility, 2002
↑ Ovarian
blood flow
Acupuncture produces measurable improvement in uterine and ovarian blood flow — directly supporting endometrial thickness and follicle development
Stener-Victorin et al., multiple peer-reviewed studies
PCOS &
ovulation
Electroacupuncture shown to reduce LH surge frequency, lower testosterone levels, and restore regular ovulation in PCOS patients
Stener-Victorin et al., Human Reproduction, multiple RCTs
Acupuncture has also been shown to reduce uterine contractions after embryo transfer — a critical window for implantation — and research suggests it may support sperm motility and morphology for male factor infertility. Dr. Emil is FABORM-certified, meaning he's trained specifically in the intersection of East Asian medicine and reproductive endocrinology.
WHAT WE DO

Your care includes acupuncture, herbal medicine, and dietary guidance.

Acupuncture

Sessions are timed to your cycle — not scheduled at random. We target specific mechanisms: ovarian and uterine blood flow, HPO axis regulation, cortisol reduction, and implantation support. The timing is everything.

Herbal Medicine

Classical Chinese herbal formulas — custom-built for your pattern and adjusted as your cycle changes. Herbs work between sessions to support follicle development, regulate hormones, and strengthen the luteal phase.

Diet & Lifestyle

TCM dietary medicine uses food as a clinical tool — not a generic "eat healthy" list. You'll get specific guidance based on your pattern: what to eat in each phase, what to avoid, and how daily habits affect your fertility.

WE SUPPORT YOU THROUGH

Every stage of your path to conception.

Fertility support & IVF preparation Improving egg quality, uterine lining, and cycle timing for natural conception or ART
IVF & IUI support Acupuncture support before retrieval, on transfer day, and through the luteal phase
PCOS & cycle regulation Regulating irregular cycles, reducing androgens, restoring ovulation
Endometriosis & pelvic pain Reducing inflammation, managing pain, improving fertility outcomes
Recurrent pregnancy loss Supporting implantation, progesterone, and early pregnancy care
Pregnancy wellness First trimester support, morning sickness, back pain, preparation for birth
Postpartum recovery Rebuilding depleted resources, supporting milk supply, emotional recovery
Male factor fertility & sperm health Improving sperm count, motility, and morphology — fertility is a two-person journey

Common Questions

What people ask before they book.

When should I start acupuncture for IVF?
Ideally, 2–3 months before your retrieval or transfer cycle — enough time to work on egg quality, uterine lining, and cycle regulation from the root. That said, we work with you wherever you are. If your transfer is in two weeks, we can still help. And if you're just beginning to explore IVF, now is the perfect time.
How many sessions will I need?
For fertility support, we typically recommend weekly sessions for the first 4–8 weeks, then adjusting based on how your body responds and where you are in your cycle. For IVF specifically, the 6-session package is timed to key points in your protocol — stimulation, transfer, and post-transfer. Every treatment plan is built around your specific pattern, not a generic schedule.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Most people are surprised. The needles are hair-thin — nothing like a medical injection. You may feel a brief sensation when a needle is placed, often described as a dull ache, warmth, or a gentle tingling. Once they're in, most patients are so relaxed they fall asleep. If needle fear has been keeping you from trying acupuncture, you're in good company — and usually converted after the first session.
Can acupuncture help if I've been told my fertility is "unexplained"?
"Unexplained infertility" often means Western diagnostics haven't found the answer yet — not that there isn't one. TCM excels at finding patterns that don't show up in standard labs: subtle cycle irregularities, constitutional deficiencies, stress-driven hormonal shifts. Many of our fertility patients come to us after being told everything looks fine. That's exactly where we do our best work.
Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy?
Yes — when performed by a trained practitioner. Dr. Emil has extensive experience treating patients through the first trimester, including for nausea, fatigue, spotting support, and anxiety. Certain acupuncture points are avoided during pregnancy; we adjust protocols accordingly at every stage.
